Sports Stars Support AMB Sports
When it comes to mixing with the stars of British sport, AMB Sports know the feeling. The company, originally launched by managing director Lee Barnes in 2000, saw both England cricket captain Michael Vaughan and much-loved spinner Monty Panesar turn out to welcome in new purpose-built cricket facilities at Burngreave, Sheffield, and Brixton, London.
AMB Sports secured the lucrative contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board to construct five urban cricket facilities throughout England with the first at Brixton receiving the highest praise from the board's Bruce Cruse. He said, “A big thank you to AMB Sports for the excellent work at Wyck Gardens. Everyone I spoke to thought the finish was great. Your patience and professionalism have been appreciated.”
The facilities are in line with the board's mission to improve locally-based cricket facilities and to encourage young children to take up the sport and get active. Monty Panesar said, “The new urban cricket arena is a natural step up for Urban Cricket. When I was a kid, I was able to learn the sport in a well-equipped environment. The new arena will give kids a chance in the sport they would never have.” Michael Vaughan, when visiting the construction site in Sheffield commented, “It’s great to see how grassroots schemes like npower Urban Cricket are making a real difference to the local community. Having been brought up in Sheffield I know how popular cricket is in this area and I know local kids will love having a safe, purpose built space in which they can play cricket and practice their skills.”
AMB Sports happily take the plaudits for their part in regenerating grassroots cricket but they aren't about to focus on one part of the market. As per their original mission statement, they are committed to the development and construction of a range of quality sporting facilities. A massive contract was recently secured with the City of Westminster's Paddington Recreation Ground for a project comprising of tennis courts, a third generation full-size football pitch, a multi-use games area, and cricket practice pitches. Ex-Tottenham and England footballer Gary Stevens welcomed in a multipurpose 3G synthetic grass pitch at Valentines High School in Ilford, with the school's staff expressing their appreciation to AMB Sports for the quality of their work.
Currently, AMB Sports offer a 'fit-for-purpose' service for the design and construction of sports facilities incorporating high quality sports surfaces, shock pads, fencing and floodlighting to satisfy all performance requirements; synthetic pitches for football, hockey, rugby and multi sport usage tennis courts with over ten surface options designed to satisfy different player needs, and planning and aesthetic concerns; three different surface choices for athletic tracks conforming to IAAF specifications; multipurpose surfaces accommodating Sport England's recommendations to achieve maximum usage; and other services including surveys and guidance to clients, project management, maintenance, and landscaping.
The company pride themselves on producing the design and build of projects with “attention to detail and fast, effective response time.” They have already established a reputation for delivering quality installations on schedule and to contract value. Their portfolio has such prestigious contracts as The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Crystal Palace Athletics stadium, Loughborough University, Harrow School, and The Wentworth Golf course. They are full members of the Sport and Play Contractors Association and Construction Line, two national monitoring services recognised by most national governing bodies and local authorities, which provide clients with peace of mind in terms of building and design reliability and approved construction specifications. Integral to their work is in building client bonds, working closely with them to establish long-term working relationships. With a highly motivated and skilled staff that has over one hundred years of combined experience, AMB has firmly established itself in the field. Their goal now is to solidify themselves as a market leader.
