England test star Monty Panesar opens AMB Sports Urban Cricket Arena at Brixton.

England cricketer Monty Panesar opened the new npower Urban Cricket Arena in Wyck Gardens, Brixton, London.

AMB Sports have been selected by the England Cricket Board to construct five urban cricket facilities throughout the UK.

Urban cricket is a grassroots cricket project run with England and Wales Cricket Board to encourage more kids to play cricket.

Monty Panesar said: ”The new urban cricket arena is a natural step up for Urban Cricket. When I was a kid, I was able to learn the sport in a well-equipped environment-the new arena will give kids a chance in the sport they would never have.

It’s great to turn my hand in helping with this opening.”

In addition to the London arena, additional facilities are planned for Sheffield, Birmingham, Cardiff and Newcastle.
